The gauze swab is made of dressing gauze complying with standard EN 14079 type 17. It is equipped with a monofilament X-ray thread with a barium sulphate content of 60 %. The X-ray thread is applied in snake shape. The swab’s cut selvedges are tucked-in. The gauze swab is packed per 100 pieces in a sterilizable paper pouch. If used in the operating theatre to cover wounds, to sponge up blood and secretion or as a tamponade, the X-Ray gauze swab must be sterilized before use with a validated sterilization method.
